As jazz is considered to be a stylized dance form that is an extension of a strong ballet foundation, it is recommended that applicants for jazz classes meet a certain criteria. Factors to be determined are ballet background, maturity, physical development, control and general coordination. Other physical activities such as drill team, skating, gymnastics, etc., are a positive factor.
